does weather affect the tours?
We cannot control the weather and at times tours can be cancelled at very short notice due to unsuitable and changeable sea conditions. Management reserves the right to cancel tours if the conditions are deemed unsuitable.
Please be advised that we may not be able to automatically forward you onto the next scheduled tour as this will be subject to availability at the time.
Should weather conditions change during a tour, resulting in the tour being prematurely terminated; a partial refund will normally apply, subject to how much of the tour is able to take place, at the discretion of the Skipper on the day.
Do the tours operate in winter?
Yes, we operate all year round. However, our tours are completely weather dependent and weather fronts can last for a few days. We advise that if possible, to allow a stay of 2-3 days in Kaikōura. Please ask us about back up bookings in case of bad weather if a longer stay is possible for you.
As we have less visitors at this time of year, your booking may be the required reservation we need to make the decision to operate, so reconfirmation the day before your tour is essential please.
